BOATING IN SEATTLE

Seattle has more pleasure boats per capita than anywhere else in the U.S.. Seattle Parks and Recreation manages seven motorized boat launches on Puget Sound, Lake Washington, and the Ship Canal. A permit is required for anybody using a ramp lane regardless of where you park your vehicle and trailer.  
A single-day launch permit is good until midnight of the date purchased.
To pay the $10 fee, you can use the yellow fee machine OR the kiosk.
In addition to the $10 launch fee, you can purchase an overnight permit for $10 per night (4 nights maximum).
An annual permit costs $150 (up to 4 night stay permited).
Annual boat launch permits can be purchased via phone, fax, mail or in person, using cash, check, or credit card.

LONG TERM MOORAGE on Lake Washington and Parks and Recreation

Seattle long-term mooring facilities:
Lakewood Moorage located on Lake Washington Boulevard and S. Genesee St.
Leschi Moorage at Lakeside Avenue S off E Alder St.
Parks and Recreation does not offer short term overnight moorage.
BOAT RENTAL...Boat rentals include canoe, paddle boats and row boats.Find out more:

LADY WASHINGTON SAILING - Seattle, WA

Tour the tall ship, Lady Washington, for free at the Kirkland downtown marina on Thurs., Aug. 30, made possible by the City of Kirkland Tourism Program.



Launched in 1989, the Lady Washington is a full-scale reproduction of the original Lady Washington, one of the first American vessels to reach the west coast in 1788. The modern version, 112 feet in length, was constructed in Aberdeen, Wash., by master shipwrights. The topsail ketch Hawaiian Chieftain, an interpretation of a typical European merchant trader of the 19th century, was built in Hawaii in 1988.

Chris Rice and Emma Schwartzman are trying out the South Lake Union waterfront with SUMMER DOG, a 24-foot pontoon boat  equipped with a professional grill and fridge. It's got the same permits as any mobile food unit.

 

 

"Summer Dog combines our love of HOT DOGS, BIKINIS, BOATING and KICKASS FUN TIMES. We serve hot dogs with all the fixins off our party barge to everyone from inner tubers to mega yachters. Live or have a business on the lake? You can book us for private events day or night. Check our page to locate us on the Lake Union or Lake Washington and to find out about tasty specials. All dogs are 6 bucks. We accept cash and plastic. Fall off your paddle board and soak your wallet? No problem. Wet cash will do just fine."
